Our Vision
Aloha! We are group 4 from Malama Honua Class period 6 that have a great idea to make our campus more sustainable. Our group consist of 4 senior boys, Nathan Utu, Kaimana Kaʻauwai, Trever Kahunahana and Noah Thompson. Our group is tightly knitted and bring many strengths to the table. These past few weeks have been difficult trying to brainstorm a solid idea for our sustainable project but eventually one stood out above the others. Our project idea is to make a master garden plan that will incorporate native Hawaiian plants that can be used freely by students, faculty and staff.
We feel that this project would be helpful because many classes such as Hawaiian ensemble, Hawaiian chant and dance .. etc incorporate native plants in their performances and classes. With this master campus garden plan, kumu, faculty and staff are able to see exactly where each type of native plant is located on campus and use it as they need. This project is also sustainable as it will help perpetuate the Hawaiian Culture. We plan to plant decorative native hawaiian plants around campus that will make the campus even more beautiful while still being connected to our culture. Check in with us daily as we document and share this fun and amazing process making our campus more sustainable. Mahalo for all of your support!
